Laure Marest Caffey

Laure Marest-Caffey is a PhD candidate in History of Art at the University   of California, Berkeley. She is currently finishing her dissertation What’s in  a Face? Rethinking the Greek Portrait through Hellenistic Glyptic under the supervision of Professor Andrew Stewart.

Her research interests include ancient Greek art and archaeology,  Hellenistic numismatics, engraved gems, portraiture, cultural history, and the reception of antiquity in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.

She has excavated in Albania and Italy. She is currently involved in the Pompeii Artifact Life History Project (PALHIP) and the Pompeii Archaeological Research Project: Porta Stabia (PARP:PS).
