This page lists and in many cases provides links to downloadable versions of three kinds of products generated in connection with the Pompeii Artifact Life History Project:1) publications; 2) presentations; and 3) research tools.

In the future this page  will also provide links to downloadable versions of various internal project documents that describe the protocols employed for the characterization of the materials studied by the project.

It is requested that those who download any of the pre-publication manuscripts, presentations and/or research tools made available on this page acknowledge RES ROMANAE as the source in any scholarly product that they create that makes use of them.

3) Research tools

A. Photomicrograph frames

G. Tibbott produced a set of frames at a range of magnifications in that can be used to frame photomicrographs such as those taken with a Dino-Lite digital microscope.  These are provided with a 5 mm scale bar, a magnification indicaor and an editable dummy specimen id indicator.  We here provide these frames along with a text in pdf file format that provides instructions for inserting a photomicrograph into a frame.

During academic year 2012-2013 C. Gaynor, while working on PALHIP operations as a URAP apprentice, produced an video tutorial (36 minutes) that provides instructions for how to produce a 3-D model of a vessel from a profile drawing using Adobe Illustrator and AutoCad.

C. Databases

To date PALHIP has employed three different databases to record information, all produced in FileMaker Pro 12 in a layout designed for use on an iPad.  These are the Object Database (created in 2012 by E. Niespolo and J.T. Peña), employed for the detailed documentation of substantially complete and/or large/complex artifacts; the Fragment Database (created in 2014 by J.T. Peña): employed for the rapid documentation of fragmentary and/or small/simple artifacts; and the Deposit Database (created in 2013 by J.T. Peña), employed for the rapid characterization of the artifacts and other materials recovered in a stratigraphic unit.  We here provide for download a clone (that is, a version containing no records) of each of these.
