New Site Content
July, 2017
Several minor corrections and additions were made to the sets of materials for African Sigillata 1, 2, and 4 earlier migrated onto RES ROMANAE over the period June 22-July 2, 2017.
June, 2017
An extensive set of PEPP materials was migrated onto RES ROMANAE on June 10-12, 2017. This includes the section of the PEPP - African Sigillatas text document pertaining to African Sigillata 1 ([= ARS A] and the relevant records in the PEPP - Classes, PEPP - Forms, PEPP - Specimens, PEPP - Contexts, PEPP - Pottery Groups, PEPP Fabrics, and PEPP - Petrographic Analyses databases.
March, 2017
The initial set of materials for PEPP was migrated onto RES ROMANAE on March 22, 2017. This includes the following:
PEPP - Methods - a lengthy text document the describes the methods being employed by PEPP for the description and quantification of the Palatine East pottery assemblage; PEPP - African Sigillatas (partial) - a text document supported by images that describes two of the classes of African sigillata present in the site assemblage (African Sigllata 2 [= ARS A/D] and African Sigillata 4 [=ARS E]); and working versions of seven of the nine projected databases, including PEPP - Classes, PEPP - Forms, PEPP - Specimens, PEPP - Contexts, PEPP - Pottery Groups, PEPP Fabrics, and PEPP - Peterographic Analyses.
This represents a pilot presentation of project results, and we anticipate that we will modify the content, format, and/or functionalities of the documents and databases in light of the experience of users of this resource. Feedback and constructive criticism would accordingly be both welcome and appreciated.
The following materials are currently being prepared and are next in the queue for presentation: PEPP - African Sigillata (remaining classes of African sigillata); PEPP Context (additional data for the current records); PEPP Pottery Groups (activation of a data visualization tool based on the Harris matrices for the different site sectors).
