African Sigillata 2.2

Class of gloss-slipped tableware of uncertain provenance (perhaps central Tunisia, northern Tunisia, or western coastal Tripolitania); one of two sub-classes of African Sigillata 2.

This sub-class consists of the material in a gritty, quartz-rich fabric without a significant component of calcareous bodies that is assumed to correspond to the production group that may have originated in either northern Tunisian or western coastal Tripolitania.
